ERIC VOLZ IS CURRENTLY A POLITICAL PRISONER BEING HELD ILLEGALLY AGAINST NICARAGUAN APPELLATE COURT ORDERS

I got really excited the other day when I recieved my usually ho-hum
update on Eric's situation when the tittle read
"Eric's Conviction overturned by Appeals Court"
But then it was followed by ..but not yet free.
Eric is a good friend of mine, I met him while living in Tahoe 6 or 7 years
ago. If you don't know about his situation already please read up.
http://www.friendsofericvolz.com/ There is also a video on my profile.
This morning I got the email below and it really concerned me. I feel like
he is so close yet in danger of being victim to gave circumstances. Even
though I was a little nervous to do so, I called our state senator
Barbara Boxer. I reached one of her assistants and she had said they had
received a few calls on the subject. I don't exactly know what our state
senator can do but I figure every little bit helps.
If you feel so inclined please make a call.

Thanks

Take action today, before it's too late!

We are asking everyone to contact (a phone call would be more immediate, but
follow up with an email if you can!) their elected representatives in the *next
few hours*, to ask them to pressure the Nicaraguan government to carry out
Eric's legal release from prison. The reason this is so urgent is that
Nicaraguan government offices leave tomorrow for the lengthy holidays... we
need the US government to act IMMEDIATELY to compel the Nicaraguan
government to honor their own law and release Eric Volz!

*Call your representative with the question "What is being done to expedite
Eric Volz's release from Nicaraguan custody?"
*
*BE INFORMED!*

*Details are changing almost hourly, but here's what we know as of 10:30am
Central, December 20th:
*
Judge Ivette Toruno, who initially convicted Eric for Doris' murder, is
required to sign his release papers, but she has created various excuses to
avoid doing so.

In the meantime, the original prosecutor of Eric's case (Isolda Ibarra) is
attempting to overturn the Appellate Court ruling, and is filing an appeal
to the Nicaraguan Supreme Court. She is asking that Eric be held in custody
(illegally) until the Supreme Court rules. Typically, Supreme Court cases
take years to process.

Nicaraguan law says that the order of the Appellate Court to free Eric
should not be overridden by the filing of a Supreme Court appeal, but that
Nicaraguan law is being ignored.

If Eric is held, he will certainly be moved back to the penitentiary, and
may not be afforded even the minimal protection he had previously - he will
be in the gravest of danger. Eric has kidney stones, and is still recovering
from intestinal issues and severe asthma, which is why he has been in the
prison hospital for more than 2 months now.

This morning, Penitentiary Director Molina dispatched a truck to take Eric
back to the prison. This forced his visit with his mother Maggie to be cut
short, due to security concerns.

ART MOVING SALE!

Melissa and I have decided to move out of the ghetto, no really! MacArther Park has been my home for almost 5 years. It's been good to me. Never had one problem. I saw 3 different people shot, oh wait 4 if you count rubber bullets. I heard the front of a building being blown out by a bomb set by a rival gang member, 2 riots, Oh, I didn't see it but I was home when that guy took over the Mexican Consulate and the police shot and killed him. Lot's of hot police chases.. and I think that's about it. Oh a few weeks ago a Korean man did fire a round in his appartment and then held his children hostage for about 7 hours before being hit with a flash granade by special police in really teched out costumes. Melissa just couldn't handle the neighbors music, all the other stuff was no problem. kidding..
Peace and serenity await us.  we are moving to Montana..    I wish.

at any rate, I have some art for sale so check it out!

ASR Mural

I had an amazing opportunity to work with some really talented artists
this past weekend. ISM magazine and The Glue Network came together once
again to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of the past 4
decades. Each team of 5 artists was put on a decade, my team was the
1970's featuring artists: Ekundayo http://www.ekundayo.com/    KMNDZ
http://www.kmndz.com/  Josh Clay http://www.jclayart.com/  Zoso
http://www.zoso1.com/  and SEIZER http://www.seizerone.com  We met up
on thursday night to discuss the layout. I was really stoked on my team
right away, they were all extremely thoughtful and intelligent. We ate,
talked, and laughed a lot. In the end it seamed like we had all
inspired each other to step up and produce something amazing. The next
morning we drove down to San Diego to the ASR trade show where the
event was being held. We arrived at about 9am, got our badges and I got
started on the base. Upon doing some research on what happened
environmentally in the 70's I was quick to notice the irony of the gas
shortage and the inefficient automobiles that were being produced
during that same time.  I thought it would be interesting to juxtapose
images of the gas shortage along side of the more extravagant
automobile advertisements. On top of this would be characters
representing the oil companies, the gluttonous auto tycoons, and then
the environmentally conscious man fighting for his rights.  Check out
the photos on my profile as well as ISM and The Glue Network sites.

Tired, in another state of mind.

It's been some time since I have really concentrated on something, been really challenged, and been faced with conciquence. This weekend gave me all that and more. I've done a few projects for marketing companies, Gurilla marketing stuff, poster campaigns, even that AFI 6-6-6 billboard thing, I thought that was tough. Nothing compared to this. My face is so heavy. I just want to sleep for days.

Coachella

Once again Melissa drug me out to coachella even though I said I would never go again after last year. It's pretty warm..  Melissa took some clariten clear and drank an energy drink, I thought we were going to have to make a trip to the emergency room. Luckly we were able to find sactuary in this weird place, the AT&T tent. I believe it's the only air conditioned tent in the land, but for some reason I felt like I was selling my soul for relief from the heat. I think they are putting out subliminal messages in there.

I was asked to give a bio for a website doing a feature on me. thought it was interesting.

seize (sz)

v. seized, seiz·ing, seiz·es

v.tr.

1. To grasp suddenly and forcibly; take or grab: seize a sword.

2.

a. To grasp with the mind; apprehend: seize an idea and develop it to the fullest extent.

b. To possess oneself of (something): seize an opportunity.

3.

a. To have a sudden overwhelming effect on: a heinous crime that seized the minds and emotions of the populace.

b. To overwhelm physically:

seizer n.

I chose the moniker seizer because of it’s definition. I felt that it defined my intentions of creating the icon on multiple levels.  I chose to make an icon based on the features of my own face to find out what people would make out of a permeating icon of an unknown person.  My intention is for the viewer to have an experience of their own and hopefully inspire them to dream, imagine, create, and in turn inspire someone else.  One notable piece of feedback that I have received from people is that when they see the icon it gives them a sense of freedom, that someone out there is not going with the grain of society, and somehow they are connected to that.

The intention of my paintings is different from that of my posters. I am not quite sure I consider my posters “art”, and I really dislike the term “street art” and I don’t subscribe to that. Dan Witz is a street artist, I just put up posters.  My paintings are for me and my friends. They are expressions of my feelings, reflections of my surroundings, and lately they have been someone else’s expressions and I am just the hand that paints them.
